Hydronics
Hydronics is the name for the use of water as the heat-transfer medium in heatingsystems. An old example of hydronics would be steam and hot-water radiators fed from a big boiler in the basement. Today highly efficient WaterStoves and small boilers will feed hot water to a large variety of sophisticated heat transfer devices.
The most common way hydronics is used to heat a building is with PEX pipes in the floor. When the thermostat signals for more temperature pumps are activated moving hot water through the pipes. The floor becomes warm and that heat naturally moves upward. Because there are no hot or cold spots with hydronic floor heating most users agree that this is the most comfortable heat they have experienced.
There are many other kinds of hot water heat exchangers
that can be used in a hydronic system.
